Hanging Basket Program

HANGING BASKET PROGRAM
Madison's Central Business Improvement District (BID) improves the physical environment and creates a welcoming downtown with programs such as the Hanging Basket Program. Up to 70 professionally designed and grown flower baskets are installed on city light poles throughout the State Street and Capitol Square area, and maintained and watered from May through September. The hanging flower basket program is supported by community donations, including the generous support of Madison Gas & Electric. Each basket costs about $400 for plants, growing and care per season.

Visitor Center

VISITOR CENTER IN PEACE PARK
Construction has started to renovate Lisa Link Peace Park at 452 State St. and to build a long-awaited Visitor Center for downtown Madison. In partnership with Madison Parks, BID Downtown Ambassadors will staff the Visitor Center, offering event information, directions, and shopping and dining suggestions. Construction is expected to last from March through August with the new Visitor Center opening in fall 2010. Design and construction of the Visitor Center will be funded with private funds raised through the Friends of Lisa Link Peace Park and Madison Parks Foundation. More information.
